Today, I announced a “Take 5” campaign for mental health. I urge everyone to take five minutes out of your day every day to call on a loved one, friend, neighbor, or acquaintance to say “Hi,” check on them, see if they need anything, lift their spirits, and tell them they are not alone. It doesn’t matter what they talk about. You can talk about this crisis or the latest show you’ve been watching. The point is connecting with people in our community who could use it the most.

There is still time to participate in my “Letters to Our Heroes” initiative! Families can send emails to show their support for our first responders, doctors, nurses and healthcare workers on the front lines helping to control the COVID-19 outbreak and keep our communities healthy. You can email me at: VMuscarella@NassauCountyNY.gov

The Legislature has extended the deadline for filing a challenge to your assessment (“grievance”) from April 2 to April 30. If you intend to file a grievance and have not done so already, you must file by April 30. The grievance may be filed online. The Assessment Review Commission website has guidance on filing a grievance online here: https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/1516/Forms-Instructions

During this difficult time, our great small businesses have been struggling. Many local restaurants and bars are still serving the public in take-out and delivery capacities. If you can, please help by supporting our local businesses.
